A Sew-In and Tea Talk to get to the root of The Common Good, 2018
What is The Common Good? Whose Common Good is it? These questions were posed in a series of events in conjunction with Assembly for Be Not Still: Living in Uncertain Times at di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art through a Sew-In inside the exhibition, and a Tea Talk at the Sonoma Regional Library. Both events were open to the public. In the Sew-In, one could sit with me and stitch an embroidery sampler with these questions while discussing the topic. In the Tea Talk, a group of strangers gathered to enjoy home baked goods and tea, write a recipe for the Common Good, and embark on a facilitated discussion, using hand made ceramics with conversation prompts from my work The Contract.
